PUNE: Bihar foundation of Pune Chapter will send relief material including cash, clothes and medicines to the flood-affected people of Bihar and Assam. The rain fury has affected 1.24 crore people in Bihar and Assam.

“Foundation members from these two states, who have been residing in Pune, held a meeting recently and decided to collect relief material and money to be sent. The collection has begun and we are expecting that the material will be sent in August. Every member of the foundation has been asked to contribute no matter how small the contribution is. There is no limitation to the amount to be contributed. We want to send it as soon as possible because they need help,” said a member.

Since Nepal and Bihar share northern border, whenever it rains heavily in Nepal, water flows into all major North Bihar rivers, including Kosi, Gandak, Kamla Balan, Bagmati and Narayani.

The flow is such that it causes mass destruction and damages embankments, which aggravates situation. Bihar has witnessed floods in 2008, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 due to incessant rains and flooding in Nepal.
