Maha tops the list of states paying the highest stipends

In fact, the report has also stated that Maharashtra has topped the list of highest paying states with a stipend that is 159 per cent higher than minimum wages. 

PUNE: Among all states, apprentices and interns get a higher stipend in Maharashtra than the applicable minimum wages, revealed a survey. According to a TeamLease Skill University Stipend Primer Report, the stipend paid to apprentices in Pune is 150 per cent higher than the entry-level salary in the respective company. 

In fact, the report has also stated that Maharashtra has topped the list of highest paying states with a stipend that is 159 per cent higher than minimum wages. 

It further stated that engineering and diploma holders in Pune commanded premium stipends. Besides, the manufacturing and services sectors both pay fairly high stipends in the average range of Rs 9,000 - 10,000 per month. 

The services sector, which includes tourism and hospitality, banking and financial services, consumer products/ Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), pays marginally higher stipends compared to the manufacturing sector (median measure), which includes construction/building, automotive and allied industries, electrical and electronics. 

The report also highlighted that while large businesses paid significantly higher stipends, 12 to 34 per cent higher than others, the difference in stipends between medium and small businesses is not very significant. 

Findings also revealed that some of the skills employers looked for in applicants were domain awareness, quantitative abilities, analytical abilities in specialised domains like IT, finance and accounting, production and manufacturing. In addition to domain expertise, employers also looked for soft skills and functional skills in generic as well as support function domains like administration, HR, sales and marketing.
