Fans went berserk when the trailer of Top Gun Maverick dropped online. While some are completely floored with the kind of nostalgia it evokes, others are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping it lives up to the original 1986 action drama, and those who are sick of remakes feel that some things are best left alone.

Yes, the new film does have Tom Cruise as the dynamic Captain Peter Maverick, and takes place 34 years after the events in the original film. There’s a new pilot trainee for the current generation to crush on too.

Scenic shots, thrill for speed, leather jackets with patches, cruiser bikes, fighter jets, and oh-so-hot aviators — we can’t wait for the release in 2020. Writer Nick Romano tweeted, “In the spirit of Top Gun 1, Glen Powell is out here in #TopGun2 shepherding an entire new generation of gay men out of the closet.”

Social media users are gushing about the incredible aerial scenes. A Twitter user posted, “Don’t care if you don’t want to see it. I work on jets for a living! Take my money!” and another one posted, “When Top Gun came out in 1986, it was hugely inspiring to me as a 13 year old. Now as a former Marine fighter pilot who attended TOPGUN, I have to admit I can’t wait to see this movie.”

Another talking point is how it seems like the handsome actor Tom Cruise hasn’t aged at all. “Trailer is a roller coaster ride through nostalgia and brilliance. The best part of the trailer is Tom Cruise who denied to age and looks exactly the same,” posted a fan, while another one wrote, “I’m sure Tom Cruise is having a “Here hold my beer” competition with himself.”

But Tom’s not the only hottie the internet is crushing hard on. “Seriously, why haven’t we promoted Glen Powell to Internet Boyfriend status yet?” posted a user.
